Yoyogi Park Urban Sports Park is a free outdoor skate facility set within the expansive grounds of Yoyogi Park in Shibuya-ku, close to Harajuku Station. The park offers a simple but accessible layout focused on flat-ground skating and box obstacles, making it particularly welcoming for beginners and those looking for open space to practise basics. The surrounding parkland provides a relaxed, green environment that sets it apart from more urban skate spots in central Tokyo.

History

Yoyogi Park was developed on the site of the Washington Heights US military housing complex and the athletes' village for the 1964 Tokyo Summer Olympics. After the Games the land was returned to Tokyo Metropolitan Government and opened as a public park in 1967. The urban sports area was added in later years as demand for skateboarding facilities in the Harajuku and Shibuya district grew. Section renovations are planned for the facility in coming years.
